Literacy Week @ Burnaby Mountain

D.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Everything And Read”! Ask students to bring a book to class (any book!) during Literacy Week.

Find a time that works for you and ask the students to “Drop Everything and Read!”. This could be for any duration that works for your class, it could take place outside on a sunny day or anywhere that works for you! The students could talk about their books with each other and take note of recommendations.

Stories could be swapped about where the students found out about the book and why they like it (or even, why they don’t). Maybe ask a few students to volunteer to read the opening lines of their books…Whatever you choose to do, make it work for you and don’t forget to post a picture of this Literacy in Action to our “Literacy Week” channel in our Staff Team for a chance to win your class a prize!
