Haiku Sticky Notes

Happy Lit Week teachers!

To go along with the festivities, we have given you a stack of sticky notes. Whenever possible, please give your students 5-10 minutes to write a haiku on whatever subject they would like (haikus on the subject they are studying is encouraged!) for Literacy Week. After your students are finished writing, they can post them on your classroom door to create a “gallery” of poetry in the halls. Haikus consist of three lines, with five syllables in the first line, seven in the second line, and five syllables in the third.

Here are some examples:

History:
Old history book
A list of stories and tales
Of happenings past

Biology:
Peer into the depths
Of curious microscopes
Life grows in the slide

Thank you for your participation!
